Microsoft’s instructions for using Microsoft Translator in Edge browser

Translating a website using the Edge browser

Click the Translate icon in the address bar of the Edge browser and select your preferred language.  If you don’t see the translate icon in your address bar, go to step 1 of this guide. 

2. Click the Immersive Reader icon in the address bar.

3. Click Lukuasetukset.

4. Select the desired language from the drop-down menu and click Käännä koko sivu -switch on.

5. Exit the Immersive Reader by clicking the Immersive Reader icon in the address bar.

6. Now the Translate icon will appear in the address bar. Click on it.

7. Select the desired language from the drop-down menu and click the Käännä button.

8. The page is now translated.

Translating a website using the Edge browser Video instruction

Change your preferred language in the Edge browser

1. Open the Edge browser and copy into the address bar: edge://settings/languages.

2. On Omnia’s computers Edge’s primary language is Finnish. Edge does not translate the primary languages, so the Finnish language must be moved down. Click Siirrä alaspäin.

3. Under the English language, select Näytä Microsoft Edge tällä kielellä. Restart the Edge browser.

4. Under Finnish, select Offer to translate pages in this language

5. Now on Finnish websites there is a translation icon in the address bar, which you can click to translate the website into a different language.

Translating a website with Google Translate

You can also translate web pages using Google Translate at translate.google.com. Copy the address of the website to be translated into the left translation field. Select Translation language in the right translation field and click to open the translated page.
